Albánie, plným názvem Albánská republika je stát v jihovýchodní Evropě. Leží na Balkáně na pobřeží Jaderského a Jónského moře a na pevnině sousedí s Černou Horou na severozápadě, s Kosovem na severovýchodě, se Severní Makedonií na východě a Řeckem na jihu. Albánská krajina zahrnuje jak členité pohoří Prokletije, pohoří Korab, tak úrodné nížinné roviny táhnoucí se od pobřeží moře. Dělí se na 12 krajů, na ploše asi 29 000 km² žije 2,4 milionu obyvatel. Hlavním a největším městem země je Tirana, následují Drač (Durrës), Vlora, Elbasan a Skadar. Drtivou většinu obyvatelstva tvoří etničtí Albánci, úředním jazykem je albánština; 48 % obyvatel vyznává islám, 8 % jsou římští katolíci a 7 % pravoslavní.
